ConceptMy concept for this podcast teaser was to depict a man falling aimlessly into an endless void, surrounded by tarot cards symbolizing pivotal and tragic points in his life. This imagery reflects the speaker, Ed Gavagan's, descent into depression and despair following his traumatic stabbing attack. Throughout the sequence, he encounters tarot cards that represent his losses and engages with specific cards that highlight the distinct challenges discussed in the podcast during his darkest moments. Ultimately, he approaches a solitary card in a blank space, representing destiny, signifying that in the end, his future is entirely in his own hands. My goal was to create a narrative that conveys the gravity of his experiences.

Process
I designed and illustrated a set of tarot cards specifically for the podcast’s storyline.

Storyboard

For the storyboard, I wanted to capture the effect of a person falling endlessly. Each pass refined the visual elements and transitions to enhance the sense of infinite descent, ensuring a compelling and immersive experience for the viewer.
